For the first time in more than a decade, State Opera South Australia and State Theatre Company South Australia will come together to present a spectacular concert version of Leonard Bernstein's beloved comic operetta and existential vaudeville, Candide, featuring 19 Elder Conservatorium of Music Theatre students in a work-integrated-learning context.

Lunchtime Concert - She Speaks

Our beloved Australian String Quartet join Noriko Tadano, a master of the shamisen; a three-stringed long-necked Japanese instrument derived from the Chinese sanxian, played with a plectrum called a bachi and a traditional instrument of the geisha.

The Honours ensemble play from the Australian Jazz Real Book, with works by noted Australian jazz writers including alumni Jo Lawry, Michelle Nicole, Matthew Sheens and Lauren Henderson, alongside songs by Vince Jones and other Australian jazz greats.

Mahler 1 (Adelaide Youth Orchestra with Elder Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra)

Feel the power of Mahler's epic Symphony No. 1 performed by a super-sized combined orchestra of SA's finest young musicians. Under the baton of esteemed conductor Luke Dollman, more than 120 players from Adelaide Youth Orchestra and Elder Conservatorium will share the stage for an exciting program of orchestral favourites in the stunning Adelaide Town Hall.
