First Year Students

Congratulations on taking the next step in your studies and welcome to the Faculty of Arts, Business, Law and Economics.

As a student at our faculty, you are also part of a diverse, inclusive and exciting community. With numerous events, resources and support networks to explore – there will always be a helping hand to get you started.

The Student Support team are available to assist you with any enquiries you may have. Visit the Student Support Office so you can speak one-on-one with an experienced Student Advisor about your studies and ask any questions you may have.

  • Enrolment advice

    Enrolling into your courses for the first time doesn’t have to be done on your own. We’re here to help!

    Our Enrolment Help page will walk you through each step of the enrolment process. You can also visit the Faculty of Arts Office to speak with a friendly student advisor or attend one of our Enrolment Advice Sessions.

    Once you have finished enrolling, don't forget to visit the University's orientation site to get involved in orientation activities!

  • Writing and Maths Centre

    As an Arts student, developing your writing skills is an integral part of your learning. The Writing Centre aims to help students develop this skill through free one-on-one consultation.

    If it’s mathematics that you need help with, the Maths Learning Centre is there to help you succeed in anything numbers related.

  • Peer Assisted Study Sessions (PASS)

    Whether you want to go from a credit to a distinction, or just want to pass the course, our  Peer Assisted Study Sessions aim to help you understand the key concepts of your course and improve your results. All sessions are run by students who have already excelled in the same course and are completely free.

  • Student Life

    We understand that students can sometimes face challenges in their life that may affect their ability to study. Student Life encompasses a variety of services to support you, including counselling, disability services, international student support and elite athlete support. 

  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Student Support

    Wirltu Yarlu has a rich history working together with The Faculty of Arts in providing support and advice to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students through the duration of their studies.

  • Get involved

    Events and activities throughout the year are a great way to meet like-minded people, whether it’s during Orientation Week or by joining one of over 150 clubs and societies available to you.
