2014 Edward Said Memorial Lecture

The 2014 Edward Said Lecture will be delivered by John Pilger on Thursday the 11th of September 2014, at 7:15pm in Allan Scott Auditorium, Hawke Building, UNISA, West Terrace Campus, North Terrace.

John Pilger is an award winning journalist, writer and documentary film maker. An Australian born who moved to London in 1962, Pilger's career as a journalist started at early age. He covered many wars notably the Vietnam war. Still in his twenties, he became the youngest journalist to receive Britain's highest award for journalism, Journalist of the Year and was the first to win it twice. One of his many documentary films is the 1974 'Palestine is Still the Issue" (Part I) and Part II in 2002. Some of his books include: 'Freedom Next Time', 'Tell me No Lies' and 'The New Rulers of the World'. Of Pliger, Noam Chomsky wrote: 'A beacon of light in often dark times ... a constant inspiration.'
