The School of Social Sciences is affiliated with eight centres and a summary of each can be found below.
- Confucius Institute
The Confucius Institute at the University of Adelaide promotes the learning of Chinese language and culture, a broader and more informed understanding of China, both across South Australia and beyond.
- Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning
The Centre for Housing, Urban and Regional Planning (CHURP) comprises a network of researchers, academics and other practitioners whose shared vision is to undertake high quality housing, urban and regional research and disseminate their findings for the betterment of society.
- Hugo Centre for Migration and Population Research
The Hugo Centre for Migration and Population Research is staffed by a core team of professionals with specialised expertise in the areas of health and aged care, population projections, demographic analysis, spatial analysis and modelling, and web technologies.
- The Fay Gale Centre for Research on Gender
The Fay Gale Centre for Research on Gender supports research that engages with gender issues, working particularly in the areas of citizenship, health and social inclusion.
- Centre for Coastal Research
The Centre aims to conduct fundamental research, applied research and research training opportunities in the areas of: coastal science uptake in coastal policy; the application of integrated coastal management (ICM); climate change adaptation on the coast and marine-protected areas; coastal and marine natural resource management (NRM); community engagement and environmental history.
