ESU (SA) – Peter Davies Memorial Prize in Creative Writing

This Prize is funded from annual donations by Mrs Wendy Davies through the English-Speaking Union (SA Branch), in memory of her late husband Mr Peter Davies, who was a long-standing former President of the English-Speaking Union (SA Branch) and a past SA Coordinator of the Plain English Speaking Awards.

The value of the Prize will be $500.00 per year for 5 years until otherwise determined by the University after discussions with the donor. The first year of the prize being awarded will be 2017.

Selection of Candidate

The prize is awarded by the University annually to a student enrolled in the course Creative Writing: The Essentials (or equivalent).

The prize winner will be the student(s) selected by the Head of Department or his / her nominee as the student who improved the most across the duration of the course/program.

If there is no candidate of sufficient merit in any given year then the prize will not be awarded in that year.

The University may vary these rules from time to time in a manner consistent with the University’s legal obligations and policies.
