Study

Many of our daily activities are carried out with language. Most of the time we are not aware of the language we are using. The study of language is interesting because it is important for our relationships, for managing our daily life, for our study and for doing things together.

The study of linguistics helps us to become more aware of our use of language. It assists greatly in the learning and teaching of languages. It is particularly vital for teaching and recording Indigenous languages to ensure their survival for future generations.

Despite the fact that we use language every day of our lives, Linguistics is not a subject that is offered at school and developing linguistic understandings is not given a high priority within the teaching of English these days. So we often come to Linguistics.
