Enter the University of Adelaide's Creative Writing Competition and you could win!

The competition is open for South Australian high school students annually between July and August. Each year, we're impressed by what we see from these future best sellers. Check out the 2016 winners below.

  • Terms & Conditions of Entry
    • Participants must be currently enrolled in Year 10, 11 or 12 in a South Australian high school.
    • Submissions must be new original work that has not been previously published (this includes articles published in your school newsletter, on other websites or blogs).
    • The judges' decision is final and further correspondence cannot be guaranteed.
    • All prize winners will be notified via email by Monday 15 August 2016.
    • The list of prize winners will be available to view on the Faculty of Arts Facebook page and at www.arts.adelaide.edu.au/about/creative-writing/
    • By entering this competition you agree to provide your personal contact information to the University of Adelaide for use relating to this competition, publishing the winning author/s and for the supply of program information.
    • Copyright of all submissions will remain with the Participant with permission granted to the University of Adelaide to reproduce, communicate and publish the submission with author acknowledgement.
    • The first place winner will be notified by 10 August 2016 and invited to collect their prize at the University of Adelaide Open Day on Sunday 14 August 2016 where they will have the opportunity to read their entry aloud (however this is not a requirement).
    • Winners will be publicly announced at the University of Adelaide Open Day, Sunday 14 August 2016.
    • Only the top eight winners will be notified by email on Monday 15 August 2016.
  • Submission Guidelines
    • Complete and attach your submission via the form online at https://arts.adelaide.edu.au/about/creative-writing/enter/
    • The submission must be no longer than 1500 words.
    • The submission must be attached in either Word or PDF format.
    • The submission attachment must clearly display the Participant Name and Title of the Creative Work.
    • Submissions are limited to one per Participant.
    • Submissions can only be received via the online form, email or hardcopy submissions will not be accepted.
    • There will be no amendments to submissions.
    • If the participant is under 18 years of age, they must provide contact details for a parent or guardian.
    • The submission deadline is 5pm Monday 18 July 2016.
